Position Title: Executive Assistant / Human Resource Specialist

Reports To: Vice President: Operations, Human Resources
Department: Human Resources
Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000 with experience, annual profit share bonus

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to support the HR department in various administrative and operational tasks. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of HR processes. This role is essential in assisting with employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance-related activities. This position will also assist with Administrative work for the Executive Team. This position is built to be dynamic and allow for growth and advancement.

Gritr is a retailer that specializes in outdoor gear, sporting goods, and firearms-related products. The company offers a wide range of items catering to outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, anglers, sportspeople, and those interested in tactical gear. Product categories include:

  1. Outdoor Gear – Camping equipment, hiking gear, survival tools, and more.
  2. Firearms & Accessories – Guns, ammunition, shooting accessories, optics, and tactical gear.
  3. Hunting and Fishing – Gear for hunting, fishing rods, tackle, hunting apparel, and related accessories.

Gritr aims to provide high-quality products at competitive prices, along with a focus on customer service, offering both online and physical store experiences for its customers. With an onsite fulfillment center, Gritr also caters to the every day needs of Amazon customers with shoes, accessories and lifestyle apparel. 

Key Responsibilities:

Executive Assistant duties:

  1. Executive Support:
    • Completing various administrative tasks as assigned by the members of the Executive Team (5 members)
    • This will not involve personal tasks such as dry cleaning, lunches etc. 
  2. Travel Coordination:
    • Assist in booking flights, and hotel reservations for business travel
  3. Office Management:
    • Ensuring supplies are ordered stocked and organized for general office use
  4. Communication & Liaison:
    • When vendors arrive for meetings, welcoming them, and notifying Executives that their meetings have arrived (not a daily occurrence)
       

Human Resource duties

  1. Document & File Management:
    • File paperwork in the file cabinet by category
    • Shredding old paperwork and organizing current files
    • Maintain Corporate files in a secure sector (permits, building plans etc)
    • Digital file maintenance - scanning and uploading into relevant folders
       
  2. Compliance & Reporting:
    • Assist the Human Resources Manager with completing forms for compliance reporting such as: EEO, OSHA, 401(K) 5500, ACA etc
       
  3. General HR Support:
    • Prepping forms and pre-filling paperwork for the Human Resource Manager such as: FMLA, Leave of Absence, etc
    • Update and disperse the Company Handbook annually
    • Research development initiatives to help grow and develop managers and company leaders
       
  4. Employee Engagement Strategy:
    • Plan an annual calendar of events and activities to boost employee engagement
    • Submit an annual budget request to use for engagement activities
    • Organize events, activities, giveaways etc 
    • Order and design items such as swag, apparel and spirit wear
       
  5. Employee Recognition & Reward Programs
    • In collaboration with the engagement strategy, build out a reward and recognition program to aid in employee satisfaction and engagement
  6. Internal Communication & Events:
    • Send messages about events and activities to the entire company utilizing email, slack, Rippling, posters, fliers etc
       
  7. Employee Feedback & Listening Initiatives:
    • Establish a feedback mechanism for employees to provide feedback and ideas to improve various areas of the company 
    • Facilitation the transmission of those ideas to the right departments and into fruition (when applicable)

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
       
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 1 year working in an office environment, HR or other relevant field
    • Human Resource certifications or courses encouraged, but not required
    • Asana Project Management system a plus but not required
       
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and office equipment.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

  • Monday through Friday (schedule timing is negotiable) 
    • Available shifts: 
      • 8am - 4pm (no lunch), 
      • 8am - 5pm (1 hour lunch), 
      • 9am - 5pm (no lunch), 
      • 9am - 6pm (1 hour lunch)
  • Full-time position with occasional overtime as required.
  • Office-based role
  • Casual working attire
  • Must be okay with dogs, we allow support and service dogs
     

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $45,000 - $55,000 depending on experience level
  • Annual profit share bonus (paid out during Q1 based on results of prior year)
